Just ordered the FIPK kit from summit. Has anyone ever had any problems with these? Also any chang in performance?

 

No problems I just didn't like the design of it. Oh and make sure when you install it that you don't over tighten the four bolts that attach the maf housing to the adapter.

I've had 1 on my 3.0L for about 3 years now. No problems. Just clean it when necessary and don't go crazy when you re-oil it. Just a little bit will do.
Performance wise? Not much. I'd say MAYBE 3-5 hp. Same with mileage. MAYBE .5 to 1 MPG.

 

had mine for a while now, no problems except make sure you tighten the bolt that you attach to the bottom of the tube, it will fall out if you dont get it tight enough

 

my truck came with the FIPk and i think the sound can get annoying at times. it's pretty cool though when you put a little push on the accelerator and you can just hear that thing suck in air.

 

I have one and like it. There a good system.

 

i definatly notice a change for the better in performance. before i could pin the skinny petal and just chirp the tires. now i can lay some serious rubber. this was the only mod between the change. mpg wise i'd say about 1mpg better. the open design is great but i do get nervous when i go puddle jumpin

 

at first you will notice a change but just like all mods you get used to it i have had mine for about 2 years on a 4.0L and I have found a good way to use it for more than it was ment to be used i can take the filter off and hook up my snorkel for off road and whenm i am on the road i can unhook it and put my filter back on

 

I got one about a month ago, little power like the others were saying (3.0L) but i just really wanted it for the sound , when im doin about 60km/h around town u can really hear the whistle coming from there, almost sounds like a mini turbo.

Those particular graphs were made with www.autotap.com You can do the same thing with a SCT X-cal2 as well.

I've since made a prototype cold air box that surrounds the filter. (including a true ram air ducting fed by the grill)
The cold air box has made a big difference in temp swings. Although I've not been able to duplicate those temp measures because its not summer yet.
Driving the same stop and go traffic route in 30F temps.. I only see about a 12F rise in temps. Cools off almost instantly when I start to move.

When it gets warm enough I'm going to make a fiberglass housing to replace the prototype acrylic one I have now.

Rich did you ever to any data logging to see the temperature with the stock intake box? im just curious.

 

Yeah but I did'nt save it. I've done this on many cars now too.

Basicly the stock box would rise about 4-5F in that same drive.

I do think the rubber tube was a bit better at slowing temp swings than is the K&N plastic tube.
