Remanufactured 4.0L OHV

Hi all... Long time reader... new poster here.

Want to start off by saying that this is a great site with loads of information that has helped me a ton...

I am looking for a quality remanufactured 4.0L OHV for my 1999 ranger xlt 4x4. I was wondering if anyone knows of a paticularly good supplier that would be able to ship. I have looked around and found a couple places that are either too expensive, or too cheap (poor quality).

If anyone has any input, please let me know.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, looking to replace my OHV. I'd love to go with an SOHC, but don't want to deal with the added headache of a new ECU, Wiring harnass, and all that jazz..

If anyone has done a SOHC swap, I'd entertain the idea...

with all the issues ive read about the ohc, id rather have the ohv. reliable & dependable beats 40+ extra horsepower, when i need more power, i'll just regear.

Yeah, I have an OHV lined up from Jasper... short block, I'm getting heads from Tom Morana, ported, polished, springs, retainers, locks... Performance cam, can't decide which one... then i have to do all the bolt on stuff...

There are going to be plenty of "to my self" presents under my tree this winter.

Comments, advice, criticizm are all welcome.

If you wanna go used and want to get the best available. Here is a company that gets stuff straight from the OEMs. (They even have used 2008 parts in stock!)

About 4 weeks ago I was buying some interior parts from them (for work). Just for kicks I checked into 4.0L ranger motors. They had a 05 4.0L w/only 5k miles on it for $1200 I thought that was pretty good!

that is pretty cheap. I have a quote from Jasper for a reman short block for 1800.00

I'll explore some of these other options.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

What issues? The only one I am aware of is the timing chain in the 2001's. I have over 82,000 on mine with no problems...

EDIT: As far as remans go, Jasper is the best I know of...

holy cow! i just got a quote on a tranny for my truck from a '05 Ranger (5R55E 4x4 tranny)....it had 1,000 miles and with lifetime parts and labor warranty it will be cheaper to buy it from Green Leaf than have mine rebuilt....$1,138.....man i am shocked...

i am about ready to purchase it......that is super cheap for a tranny with 1,000 miles...

i bet they rape you with shipping...

i am going to call them and see what shipping would be.....and what their "lifetime warranty" covers.
