Removing the third cat on an 05???
The only way to get the x-pipe to work and convert to a true dual is by removing the last (of 3) cats where both the pipes from each bank merge. there is no O2 sensor after this cat but there is one right before it. Anyone know if this would give me any problems as far as the truck running funny or throwing a check engine light?? emissions are not a concern.

No sense in pulling the cats, they are all high flow cats already. As for doing it with your exhaust, I think I'm with Zach. Might be more trouble than it's worth. To answer your question though, I don't think it will throw up any lights, but I've never known anyone to do it either.

I don't see why it would hurt though, I mean your already doing exhaust work so why not?

lol.. ya what roach said..kinda hijacked it.. oops

the primary reason for doing it is to convert to a true dual set-up and of course to install the x-pipe.

True duals will only hurt you. And rape you in the torque department. You dont have a v8..
Your making the engine flow WAY TOO FREELY , loosing backpressure which builds torque. Make sure you have enough money to switch back, cause i garuntee your going to hate it. Doug904, major ranger enthusiast did it, true duals. And regretted it. |
Plus it's loud as hell and will sound like crap.

:stupid: :stupid:
I am COMPLETELY with Leo, and yeah with Michael. COuldn't have said it better myself. |
If you remove the cat upstream of the rear oxyen sensor (CMS), you will get a CEL and a trouble code from the OBDII catalyst efficiency monitor. The monitor has strict entry and completion requirements but, sooner or later, you will get the CEL and code.
If you remove the cat downstream of the CMS, you will increase emissions but you will not get the catalyst monitor code. |
