Rpms???? drive to park/nuetral

is it normal for an automatic to sit at 1000 rpms in drive and when changed from park/neutral drops down to 500 rpms??? the truck was dying before when i put it in park so I changed the Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve and it doesn't die anymore......

Yeah its normal. At least comparing it to my truck, which does exactly what you describe. Never had an issue with it.

And mine sits around 800 in neutral.
