Lets keep it Civilized. This thread is about Scangauges and what your currently reads, not how it functions. If you want to argue if the Scangauge reads accurately go start another thread.

You guys are both very knowledgeable and argue some good points, but it gets out of hand.

Will do Zach.

btw, I put in some 92 octane and adjusted the tune. Tonight I'll see what it makes.

Well.. on 92 octane and me running the tune I had been running during the summer.. it gets into knock retard. So.. looks like I need to make a 92octane tune w/less timing. (was making 240hp w/20deg of timing though)

The highest I've seen was 258. But that was before I was tuning myself and it was on 93 octane fuel. I'm still tweaking the tune every week or so...

I really don't see myself doing much more to the ranger. Next season I'll try a 75shot at the track and maybe at the dunes. But otherwise.. I'm going to make a nice fiberglass airbox. And put the rest of my efforts into gettin my Lightning into the 10s.

LOL.. well it's like anything else in life. After a while it doesn't have the same thrill it used to have.

btw, speaking of HP and OBD2... the stock PCM on the Lightning **stops** at 510TQ. LOL... my data logging charts go flat line above 4000rpms!
I'm now shooting for 800hp at the crank and will have to go to a dyno to find out how much it puts down.

Since you a mod I guess the OT is ok...

It really doesn't feel as fast as it is. Before I removed the engine it was in the 550-575hp area and ran a best of [email protected] That sounds really quick and it is.. but I think because you sit so high up that it just warps your perception. The last time at the track I ran 6 vettes. 4 of which were Z06s. Only one beat me. He went 11.2 to my 11.8 And at that he had a full race motor, race tranny, and a roll cage w/DRs. I mean it just doesn't feel that quick. But I get out about the 60-100ft mark and I pass them everytime. 16lbs of boost and 100shot of nitrous has it's perks.

Stock they are 1/2" lower in the front and 1" in the rear. I've got mine dropped another 1" and 1.5" But it has 305-55-18 tires. They are 32" tall and 12" wide. So my ride height is back to stock Lightning height.

I've taken friends for rides and they have all said the same thing. It doesn't feel as fast as it really is. I think in part it's because I can't just floor it. Often times on street tires I can't floor it until right before the 1-2 shift. It'll just spin if I lay into it too quickly.

I have a 2500 stall on top of that. So quite often I can't floor it on the street. It just spins. And even on a sticky track the best 60ft I've ever cut was a 1.95 It just makes sooooo much low end TQ that its tough to make it stick. On slicks though.. 1.6s are fun.

Just an update:

My timing for WOT is set to climb from 24-27, A/F is 12.7, 10w-30 mobil 1 w/10k miles on it, 1yr old denso IT20 spark plugs, and I've been running sunoco 94 octane this week. I've seen 246-248hp on the scanguage for 3 solid days now.
I even tried going higher with timing. Power seems to drop off at anything above 27deg.

I took the top off my CAI box and it made no difference.
My filter has not been cleaned since late last summer so I'm not too sure how much that might cost me? It's not very dirty because I pull air from the RH side of the grill.. and I hardly ever go down dirt roads. So.. IMO cleaning it won't gain much if anything at all. (gonna clean it today so I'll know here next week)

Cleaned and re-oiled the K&N conical. Drove it for 3 days.. same power results. 248hp at 5200-5500rpms.

Your not the only one!! I miss it quite a bit. But... the L takes a back seat to several other priorities in my life.
I do "plan" on getting after it here in about 1.5 months. (some tasks I'm commited to are ending about then)

Ok, so correct me if I'm wrong. But i just plugged in the info to get the HP reading on my scangauge (after a year of owning it, lol) and when I take off in first I get a peak of about 260hp. Now I have a 3.0 rated at 152hp. From what Ive read on here, the gauge measures the "crank" hp. Does that mean that the engine alone with out anything attached is putting out that much? I assume rwhp is what is being transfered to the wheels and is whats read on a dyno.

Or am I completely wrong and the gauge is just broken?
