motor mounts?

95 4.0 auto 2wd

Looking in the LF wheel well, I see a short, small gas strut. It goes from the frame to some bracket.

What is it? I feel a cushy "clunk" when I accelerate from a stop.

It attaches from the frame to the body. but idk what that noise is? look for something loose and i dont think it would be a motor mount, it could be. sounds kinda like my friends problem with his vw.

its just a little shock that helps absorb the movements of the engine.

Could be a lot of things. Search on "slip bump" for one common Ranger problem - the binding slip yoke.

If it was that strut it will make your noise in park.

Slip yoke or ujoint is way more common of an issue.
