sohc ?

does the 02 ranger edge 4.0 sohc have a timing belt or a timing chain?

And also I believe there is a chain on the back of the motor thats sposed to be done at the same time...

dont quote me though as to im not sure

Yup....

So....I just bought a 1,000 mile '06 engine for $1,000 and tossed it in. Motor had to come out anyway! Smarter idear for me to do that than spend half that in special tools and still end up with a beat *** teenager driven, sucked in muddy water 4 times engine. lol.



There were recalls on this engine in the Explorer, but just a TSB for the Ranger SOHC 4.0's regarding the early wear on the chain guides and tensioners. 04ish+ engines had that problem 'solved', though they still will eventually wear out, just not as hugely accelerated like the early SOHC's.

yup yup they got it right..im pretty sure the sohc i have is close enough to 04 to have the problem solved.
