Exhaust for 2002 4.0 SOHC
ive recently been looking at exhausts and ive come to a fork in the road..
the two main companies ive been eyeing as of now are MagnaFlow and Gibson..
As for the MagnaFlow ive heard that the performance is good but the sound is a bit weak
As for the Gibson i havent heard anything it just looks like an overall good exhaust system
ps, im mainly looking to stick with a catback under 500
any other opinions or input would be great, thanks

I like my Stainless Steel Cat back Magnaflow....Sound is quiet at first..but gets to be a nice low noise after a few months...I hate those loud trucks....Remember after all, we still only have a 4.0 not a big V8.....
I haven't heard anything about the Gibson either..so cannot help you out there

I purchased a magnaflo Muffler and Mandrel bent up stainless pipes for it.. Its very suttle till its romped on.. then it has a lot of volume. Gains were noticable.
Mine is Stainless ( muffler still looks chrome plated after 2 winters in NY, high quality stuff ) .
ShyBri has a Gibson dual setup. Its much quieter then mine ( his is less then 3 months old tho and hasnt ' cured ' ) . His is that aluminum stuff and we both think its going to get hurt in the salt/snow this winter.
Most will tell you to get a flowmaster.. if all you want is sound, thats the way to go, cheap and very common. I'm biased, I had a flowmaster and didn't like it at all.
Rumor has it Borla is the BEST overall, but it comes with a premium pricetag. Well worth the money.
Anything beats the factory setup, we will all agree on that

Well, lets see.....hmm the most you will gain from exhaust is maybe 6-10 HP at the wheels. Im not trying to bash your post or w/e, but you really can never go by what the manafactuer says....Most of the time they are full of BS. They say that so they can gain your intrest into buying their product. Magnaflow is probably the better of the 2 that you are looking at, but you will save ALOT of cash if you just bought the muffler and had a shop bend the pipes for you.
If you are still open to new ideas..........
Right click save as the link in my signature to hear my borla exhaust.....Borla mufflers give the best performance ive ever seen to a car/truck....And sound is comparable to the flowmaster 40 series.....(trust me i know....I've heard both in person on a 4.0)
let us know what you decide on. :-)

i know one person that has had both magnaflow and gibson. got the magnaflow after the gibson because it was a good deal.
last i knew he prefered the magnaflow over the gibson, but said there awas nothing wrong with the gibson.
i have had
flowmaster
magnaflow
and borla(currently)
i wasnt much for the flowmaster(good sound)
i would rate the magnaflow and borla the same i liked them both.
