Exhaust for 2002 4.0 SOHC

ive recently been looking at exhausts and ive come to a fork in the road..
the two main companies ive been eyeing as of now are MagnaFlow and Gibson..
As for the MagnaFlow ive heard that the performance is good but the sound is a bit weak
As for the Gibson i havent heard anything it just looks like an overall good exhaust system

ps, im mainly looking to stick with a catback under 500

any other opinions or input would be great, thanks

I like my Stainless Steel Cat back Magnaflow....Sound is quiet at first..but gets to be a nice low noise after a few months...I hate those loud trucks....Remember after all, we still only have a 4.0 not a big V8.....

I haven't heard anything about the Gibson either..so cannot help you out there

any opinions on the Flowmaster.. i hear the 40 series has a great loud sound but almost no performance gain, and the 50 has a little more performance but no throat

I'll be interested to see if you actually gain that much from an exhaust. I went with borla, which is generally considered once of the better performing mufflers, and it doesn't feel like 15/30 or more. Good luck tho and let us know!

the borla full catback is only said to add 10-12 hp and 15 tq, not to mention their whole system is 550 dollars more

It would be awesome to gain 15hp and 30lb's of torque from that, but I doubt your exhaust is gonna give you near as much as my tuner does. But it will help alot when combined with an intake too.

I was referring to a whole exhaust, not a muffler.

Well, lets see.....hmm the most you will gain from exhaust is maybe 6-10 HP at the wheels. Im not trying to bash your post or w/e, but you really can never go by what the manafactuer says....Most of the time they are full of BS. They say that so they can gain your intrest into buying their product. Magnaflow is probably the better of the 2 that you are looking at, but you will save ALOT of cash if you just bought the muffler and had a shop bend the pipes for you.

If you are still open to new ideas..........

Right click save as the link in my signature to hear my borla exhaust.....Borla mufflers give the best performance ive ever seen to a car/truck....And sound is comparable to the flowmaster 40 series.....(trust me i know....I've heard both in person on a 4.0)

let us know what you decide on. :-)

i know one person that has had both magnaflow and gibson. got the magnaflow after the gibson because it was a good deal.

last i knew he prefered the magnaflow over the gibson, but said there awas nothing wrong with the gibson.

i have had
flowmaster
magnaflow
and borla(currently)

i wasnt much for the flowmaster(good sound)

i would rate the magnaflow and borla the same i liked them both.
