block heater location?

I know when I bought my truck in 2007 it said it came with a block heater, but I can't seem to find the damn plug, I know it's probably wrapped somewhere, but could anyone tell me where to look for it? Is it close to the battery or something? lol

Thanks

It should be hanging in behind the valance, on the driver's side.

Yep, that's where the plug for mine was; I fished it out, so now the plug sits on the top of the front bumper - I plastic tied it to the top of the front licence plate holder.

That's a good idea, it's pretty awkward to plug in when you're reaching behind the valance.

I've never had the urge to take a pic of my block heater plug. Sorry. Haha.

I was never even told about the block heater when I bought my truck from the dealership, I think it might be kind of a given in Canada haha.. It would be pretty weird to see a vehicle without one around here. My truck even has a battery warmer which is pretty cool.

Most have a battery warmer and block heater combo. My plug was behind my valence on the driver side. I now have it zip tied to the driver side tow hook. I use my quite a bit, even if the engine is not hot when I plug it in the battery heater makes a difference. I notice the truck turns over faster and easier. If the engine is hot I get heat within 5 min. of driving. That is leaving it plugged in all night.

I believe that they come standard depending on the package/trim level on your vehicle, and maybe dependent on where the truck was sold.

In the old days, and maybe still, these items are part of what was considered a "cold weather package" and were found on vehicles marketed in the Northern states of the US and pretty much throughout Canada.

Could be these days it's more likely to come as part of a package, whether or not you'll use it, since it seems some trucks sold in the Southern states also have them.

If it falls way below zero and I haven't drivin my truck for a few days, I might plug it in just to warm the battery so it cranks faster. Other then that they really don't need them.
