How in the H#LL do you get to that spark plug?!!?

Any tricks on getting to the rear plug on the pass side of a 4.0 SOHC of a ranger? I really don't want to take the whole heater core out.

I did mine from the out side of the truck. I jacked it up, pulled the wheel, pulled the inner fenders, and went at it from the inside of the wheel well. Best thing is having a universal socket to get at them. I used both 3/8 and 1/4 drive rachets. It's a pain, but once you figure it out, youve got it for life. I've been told body lift trucks are a little easier to work in.

It also helps to snap your arm in 3 places. The triple-compound-fracture will help you reach it and it will hurt less.

whenever i change the plugs on my truck, even though i am body lifted and can see the plugs from under the wheel well, i sit on top of the engine and reach down.....give me more leverage and it is easier to get to that way......dont have to pull the inner fender out at all.....a lot more room that way than pulling the fender well out...

I just hoist up the truck, take the wheel off and get it off that way, its easier to get all 3 out that way actually. I do it on all the explorers and rangers that I do spark plugs on.

yep, longtube headers actually make it harder to change the plugs, GM wasn't thinking of space when they designed that engine bay.

I tried changing the wires out, got the drivers side done but I couldn't even come close to getting the passenger side off with 1 arm so I had the dealer do the 3 wires & replace the plugs when I had my major service done last week.

Haha, that is great. If I didn't have John's "media edited" quote in my sig, that would be the one.
