truck isn't ideling right please help

when i first start my truck, the engin is at 2,000-2,250 RPM's. i rev it some and it still stays the same. then after ideling for about 5 min, the RPM's go down to about 750. RPM's stays at 750 for about a minute and then goes back up to 2,000-2,250 RPM's. does anyone know what is wrong?

it could be a few things, and IAC, or a vacuum leak .... could be a dirty maf, mine had a high idle, replaced the IAC, checked for vacuum leaks, and cleaned my maf, still had a high idle, then a week later the TPS took a ****, truck wouldnt start due to it sending a signal of WOT so there was no injector pulse, anyways I replaced that and the High Idle went away ... i never thought a tps would cause that ... ... but i would take it to the dealer .... good luck!

yea mine does the same thing, but it goes up and down, and going in reverse it gets really low, Anybody have a clue what it is? 4.0 running in mine.

Look at the posts above you...

Also, whats the rpm ranger happening for you. If its goin up and down with a clicking sound and its not a big difference it is most likely just A/C compressor kicking on and off. Going into reverse would make it go low(altho i dont know how low really low is).

How much rpm is it changing?

I don't remember if this is right, but I believe the air compressor still works when you're driving, that it needs to maintain pressure.
