Trouble pulling balancer '94 4.0

The balancer on my '94 doesn't want to come off. The puller is tight and I've been tapping on it with a brass hammer trying to get it to move and so far no luck. Any ideas? I guess I could put a torch to it to losen it up but that would probably destroy the rubber part and I don't feel like buying a new balancer.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Make sure there is not a washer on the crank snout (inside the balancer where the bolt came out). I have had this problem before where I forget to remove it and the puller doesn't work. I think heat is a bad idea becuase you would also melt the front main seal.

Well, I can't really see in but I reached the camera down and snapped a pic and this is what it sees. Is that the washer that I am seeing in the pic?

Thanks,
Jonathan

IMO yes that is a washer. If you look it has witness marks around the bolt hole that were caused by the head of the bolt. I would pry that think off then try your puller again.

I'm 99% sure it's the crank snout. I got a pretty good look through the grille. I think the forkin thing is just siezed on there really hard. What a PITA. :) As hard as I have cranked down it's amazing that I haven't broken one of the 2 M8x1.25x100s that I'm using with the puller to try to yank the thing off.
