I have a 97 ranger and whenever I shift it into reverse it shakes the whole truck and dies. Sometimes if I give it a whole lot of gas it will get going but usually not. I jacked it up the other day and put it in reverse and it didn't die but the whole truck just vibrated all over. I had the tranny flushed about a year ago any suggestions?

 

A lot of transmission shops will do a free road test "diagnosis".

 

im guessing its an auto, since i dont see how a manual would die after just shifting, but my 5-speed needs a lot more gas when going into reverse than first.
