Question on Flash or "chips"

Not sure i searched for the flash kits... nothing came up.

Do they make a relash kit for the 96 and up rangers ? I know they started making the svt focus ones.. I am a little new to this ranger stuff

would be looking for fuel maping.. or some little advancements maybe.. to pick up a few ponies... or even have control over the entire ecu.

Your best bet is to use on of BamaChips tuners, i would suggest the X2, the pricing is only 379 THIS MONTH ONLY, which is the lowest that SCT will allow.

I would do a search under BamaChips on here and im sure youll find tons of info!

Its worth it I have the other tuner from Bamachips and I love it. The power increase is very noticable.

Do you have a link to a 4.0 spec sheet. (i got a 96,) I was wondering if its more of a rev happy motor or just a low end tq motor. It seems to have so much low end tq i dont really ever get it much past 2.5 to 3k. I haven't really broken it loose either to. Just started to get a Feel for the motor.

ya thats the ohv for ya....it has extreme low end torque..the intake and exhaust helped me..but i think the tuner is supposed to help a ton with the mid to top end power.
Which is what the ohv needs.

did you go with a kn drop in for a intake ? and what size exhaust or route did you use ? I wasn't sure if 2.5 inch was the standard. (sorry i am coming from n/a and turbo imports) where 3inch is common for turbo cars.

I was Looking at doing duels with megnaflow or flowmaster. (cat back or headers if i can find a set of headers) Would really like a Deep or mellow sounding exhaust.

no, i figured for the money you spend on a regular drop in filter, your just better off to go with a full intake, so i went ahead and got the K&N FIPK complete intake system.
And for exhaust i went with a Borla XS SI/SO 2.25" in 2.25" out that i got off of the internet. For running it, i took the muffler to a local shop and they ran new 2.25 pipe from the converter all the way back, and made a Y pipe before the spare tire..going to duals out of the corners.
I love it! If your lookin for a deep mellow sound, then Magnaflow, or Borla is the way to go. I love mine!!! You hear it when you want to.
Hope this helped!

acutally it did quite a bit. So your saying 2 1/4 is big enough or could i go to 2.5 w/o losing a lot of the back pressure. I have a Magnaflow on my 95 Pgt and it sounds mean below 4k and very insane at 7200.

Thanks for helping out the new 4x4 guy... Now i just have to find some mud... or snow.

are you sayin the drop in did quite a bit? If so..im sure it did..i know they help alot.
And the size, im not sure whats the best, but i was really scared to go bigger because since the ohv is made for torque i didnt want to lose that, or back pressure. You can search exhaust threads and see that i asked TONS of questions about exhaust and sizes and everything and im definatley glad with what i went with. I mean, i dont really think you would gain anything from gettin 2.5 instead of 2.25 but im not sure.
And sure! Glad to help anytime!

with the OHV, if you do a full system out the back, then 2.5 would be ok, if you do a sideswept i would stick with 2.25, you want to keep your backpressure with that engine, as it is a torque monster. Magnaflow is my exhaust of choice, perfect sound, great quality, etc

Does your magnaflow sounds like a small block v8 ? Or would you say it has its own personal sound.

Its not gonna sound like a small block V8, to me its more of a smooth sound, but its just its own sound.
Cant mistake the sound of a V6
