Tunes

Where do you guys get your tunes? I got mine from Doug at Bamachips last year and I've hear some good reviews on some other people's tunes. So.... Just wondering, where do you get your tunes and what company do you think has the best tunes?

i have a diablosport tuner now and i love it. i feel more of difference then i did with my xcal 3 with tunes by doug at bamachips

04blackedge Jul 2, 2010 12:56 PM

I've heard good reviews about Justin at http://www.vmptuning.com

KLC Jul 2, 2010 01:04 PM

I have a Superchips Cortex programmer and it is just alright. Of course they are just canned preset tunes so you can't expect much. I'm looking to get a tuner with custom tunes so this should be interesting.

Lord Of War Jul 2, 2010 01:20 PM

I have one by Don at LaSota Racing.

I like it. I might try one by another tuner just to see if there is a difference.

Fenech627 Jul 2, 2010 04:38 PM

I get mine from itunes

01_ranger_4x4 Jul 2, 2010 04:43 PM

fred from rogue performance did my tunes. ive been very pleased with them.

01RangerEdge Jul 2, 2010 05:05 PM

How much different are all these tunes? Are they so much different from other companies?

Did everyone buy tuners?

I obviously don't know much about tuning

98rangerxlt Jul 2, 2010 05:23 PM

I get my tunes from my right foot.

rangerboy101 Jul 2, 2010 06:40 PM

Not to be a smartass, but how does the tuner itself help? I have an Xcal 2 and tunes from Doug @ Bamachips but I mean how much better would tunes from say, LaSota be? Or how much difference would a Diablo Sport Tuner be than the Xcal 2 that I have now?

04blackedge Jul 2, 2010 06:52 PM

Honestly I would doubt you'd see much different. Why do you want new ones?

KLC Jul 2, 2010 06:53 PM

The tune is what makes the difference not the tuner. At least that's what I've been told and understand.

I don't know to be honest. I've just heard some tunes are better than others and some people really like the tunes they got and I thought maybe with some different tunes I could get a little more power.

KLC Jul 2, 2010 07:04 PM

I seriously doubt another canned tune will make much of a difference. The only way you would get more power is if you had a custom dyno tune. Even then it probably wouldn't make much difference without engine work and a power adder.

04blackedge Jul 2, 2010 07:07 PM

I agree with KLC. I wouldn't bother unless you plan on adding another engine mod that would make it more worth while.

rangerboy101 Jul 2, 2010 08:36 PM

Turbo??

4.0sport Jul 2, 2010 10:23 PM

do it. a custom dyno tune from your local shop would be best. b/c of altitude and alot of other things. but if you wanted to take the cheap way out i would say nos is the best power to $ ratio.. ive seen k20 hondas make 100hp on a wet 50 shot.

but just like they said its not worth it to tune a nearly stock truck b/c dont you think the millions of dollars ford spent researching to get best tune on there stock motors.

nos or f/i just my .02

im new but i now my way round a performane shop

rangerboy101 Jul 2, 2010 10:29 PM

I'm going to go buy a local shop tomorrow and just shoot the sh!t with em for a little bit and see how much they'd charge to do everything. Never hurts to ask.

Lord Of War Jul 3, 2010 04:42 PM

Did you talk to anyone Tyler?

rangerboy101 Jul 3, 2010 07:43 PM

Nah I never made it over there today. My parents ended up having a big long list of stuff to get done so I was stuck doing that.

atm, i dont know how much i could reccomend fred....he was great and responsive for a week, and all of a sudden i just stopped recieving messages back from the guy, and its been about a week since ive had the last response.....and no tunes to work with...

4.0sport Jul 3, 2010 10:17 PM

get a wet nos kit from ebay. 300$ and a tune. and youll be more than pleased. i wouldnt put a huge shot in. but a 50hp shot would throw you in your seat. and ive seen stock 4.0sohc with a 75 shot...all matters on your tuner.

rangerboy101 Jul 4, 2010 09:23 AM

I'm not really wanting to do NOS. Just wanted to gain a few more HP's for sh!ts and giggles.

Lord Of War Jul 4, 2010 09:29 AM

Get a tune, exhaust, CAI, and pullies.

rangerboy101 Jul 4, 2010 09:55 AM

Well my exhaust is looking like sh!t so I've been considering doing that. Don't really want a CAI but I would like some pullies.
