ya that's true. My 4.10's and the auto aren't helping my cause any.

out of curiousness sake, what does your motor rev at going about 110-115 km/h

Mine is about at 2400. IMO it's a little high given the auto tranny does have 5 gears.

I'm sure glad I didn't get a 4x4
My 4.0 auto (95XLT ext cab) with 85k miles just got 27mpg on a 450 mile trip last weekend. A/C on and 68mph average.

thats mine too... 14.5 weather its city highway floorin it or drivin like a granny. i cant get more that about 14.5.... btw i have a 4.0 5speed 4x4 with 4.10's and 265/75/16. IMO auto get better gas milage usually cuz most manual drivers that i know dont shift the 5 speeds at 1500-1700 rpm's like the autos do... thats just my observaion. i shif at about 2100-2500.

wow that sucks guys. i will update my mileage since my first post. i now have a 3" bodylift and 33s and im still getting 450-500km per tank in summer but i noticed it dropped drastically in winter. im lucky to get over 300kms in winter to a tank but i also never go more than a week without using 4x4 to play in the snow

You might want to gear down to 4:56
When I ran 225/75-15 tires, 3.0 auto with 3:73 gears I used to get 320 a tank
Now with 31s I get around 18mpg
(my speedo is off a bit, so guess it would be calculated to 290 a tank)

I get around 220 miles per tank, but I fill up early. I could get another 30-40 miles if I let it get down to E. I have 4.10, Auto, 4.0, 4x4, and stock tires.

It comes out to 16.7 mpg highway, and about 12-14 mpg city, which is respectable to me. I only track my mileage for fun, and could definitely improve upon these numbers if I drove a little more conservatively.

My ranger pisses me off lol. My 08 ford diesel gets 18 mixed and makes 550 hp and 1100 ft/lbs torque. Of course with a spartan tuner, intake and straight pipe exhaust. And the truck weights like 8k pounds.

yeah I was freaked out at my mileage after I switched to 31s but I realized it was because I was calculating off the trip meter which was off due to the larger tires.
