Want to pull my 2.9 and install a 4.0

I am unable to find another transmission for the 2.9 so I was wondering if a 4.0 with 5 spd transmission could go into the 90 Ranger with out to much rewiring?
Help needed badly
Thanks

the 4.0 is a bolt in replacement for the 2.9, but you will need a 4.0 ecu and it would be easiest if you got a complete harness to go with it since at that point it would be mostly plug and play. could you hack the stock 2.9, maybe, but youd have to be a mad dog or an englishman to do it
