What is it

ok i have an 05 fx4 i know for sure i have a cat on each side off the headers then it comes down and what does it go into is it another cat or is it just a y pipe? i will try and get pictures

ok i cant find my camera but its where the two pipes from each side of the motor meet and right before the muffler

More cats. Just in case you were thinking no you won't gain power by taking any of them off unless you tune for no cats but then you probably won't gain much and you will have check engine light on if you take any off before the last O2 sensor.

will the exhaust get louder? and im pretty sure its after the last o2 sensor im pretty sure i would have to look again

It will probably get louder but what for? Just run no exhaust and it will be loud and annoying. Everyone will look at you as you annoyingly drive by. I know this because I had no exhaust for a year and it sucked. I was thinking it was better than not hearing anything but no its not.
