What all do i need for an EFAN swap?

Looking to gain a few more ponies, free up some power. Ive already done an underdrive pulley, intake, headers, tuner, yadda yadda.

What all do i need to do the efan swap on my 4.0 SOHC? What kind of fan should i get? do i need other parts with it like a thermostat, harness or anything?

Also, i know if i go to an electric fan i will need a shorter belt.. keep in mind i already have the underdrive pulley, so i wonder what size belt id need after the swap?

Thanks, im a newbie to this efan stuff :)

All you need is the tool to remove the fan, it comes out with the shroud. Unless you plan on removing the water pump the there is no need to touch the belt.

The efan is all stand alone stuff. Just a controller and the fan. You can get creative with the mounting, or use the crappy ties that slide thought the radiator.

FWIW, only thing I have noticed is colder AC sitting in the drive through.

Alright let me help you out here.

To do an E-Fan install you will need a couple thing. Im going to give you my parts list, I made an automatic system that will work all on its own.

you will need:
E-Fan (i have a 93 topaz 2 speed fan moded into the stock shroud)
2X 40/30amp **Waterproof** relays. Get dual pole (power to one prong when off, power to the other when on)

12 guage wire (main powers)
16 guage wire(signal wires)
female connectors
butt connectors
heat shrink
electrical tape.

I reccomend soldiering everything, you can do it without.

Heres how its wired.

so truck is running, it gets too hot. High relay gets turned on by the sensor, and cools till it says turn off. when high relay is off, low relay is powered, but not active. if the AC pump turns on, the low speed relay turns on and cools till the ac pump goes off. if the ac pump is on, and the truck gets too hot, high is activated, removing power from low and putting it to high speed on the fan.

this system is self sufficent, all you do is set the temp it comes on. run the truck till the needle is at the desired temp, and turn the know on the sensor till the high speed fan comes on, the back it off just slightly (not so much as the fans get turned back off)

any questions, email me at [email protected]

If you get an after market controller it will have an input for AC, which you will need at low speeds with AC on.

Otherwise the controller shown will need to modified for AC.

Nope, the ac isnt run off the temp sensor. Its a different circut. The ac clutch power cycles the low relay.

My point is you need the fan on with the AC, especially in city traffic.
