Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly

Ok I need to replace my front wheel bearing/Hub Assembly. I Have priceed this at several different places. I was wondering if anyone has replaced one on their truck and knew of a good quality wheel bearing/hub assembly. Thanks for your help.

please, when asking this sorta question, you need to list your year of truck and model. just for future reference...

Looked at your profile. You've got a '02 Ranger. It's really easy to replace. Take your wheel off. take the cv shaft nut off the hub. There's either 3 or 4 bolts that bolt the hub/bearing assy to the knuckle. take those off and bam! it's off. Then just bolt the new one on. Slide the CV shaft into it while installing. Buzz the nut on. Wheels on. done.

Sorry I didnt give truck info. Thanks for telling me how to change the bearing but that wasn't my question. My question was about a good quality wheel bearing for my money.

Timkin ! The best bering out there by far! They carry a hefty price tag but they are worth every cent you pay.

I have bought ford bearing from bob utter online. I also got a timkin from rockauto.

I have about 25k on the fords and 10 on the timkins. Neither one feel any different than when they were new. Keep in mind the fords are on the ranger and the timkin is on my ex.

If your running larger than stock tires, they are harder on the bearings and will out faster. Especially if you wheel your rig.

Thanks for the help. No I dont plan on changing tire size. I plan on running stock tire size

Sorry to bump this thread but I'm doing this later this afternoon on an 03 4x4 (live axle) - already have the assembly. My question is there any additional grease needed or just pop it on and roll out? :db[1]:

Ohh... by the way 1st post

You want to grease the roller bearing that the cv axle rides on. A little extra inside is not going to hurt.

choose a good grease here. It will never be changed.

Im running the lucas green stuff. Not sure what its called.
