4.0 wiring questions

I'm doing an engine swap in my '93 4x4 single cab ranger xl, from a 3.0 to a 4.0 out of a '95 explorer limited, my truck having basically no electrical system except what is needed to run (being a base model) and the explorer having just about anything imaginable electric in it, is causing me some headaches with wires.

- my truck has a 5-speed adn manual t-case, expo has auto tranny and electric t-case, can I leave those plugs on the engine wiring harness alone and just leave them sitting there? (only need 2 wires for reverse lights out of one plug)

- where would a good place to get some wiring diagrams, preferably coloured, besides the dealership? (haynes are terrible)

-ranger is OBDI, expo is OBDII, will this cause me alot of issues?

im going to pick up a code reader to help me out a bit, anything else you guys can suggest?

I cant wait to get this thing back on the road, getting close now.

Thanks,

Kirk

The absolute best source for Ford Wiring Diagrams is the EVTM (Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual) as used by Ford dealers. These were expensive when new but can be had for under $10 each used on eBay. There is a specific EVTM for each year/model and you'll need one for your project truck and one for the engine donor.

OBD-II was phased in over more than one model year. Ranger went OBDII and EEC-V in 1995 model year but I was under the impression that Explorer did the same in 1996MY. The readers are different for OBD-I or OBD-II, and you need the right one for the computer being used.
