I picked up a Mac Tools global OBDII Scanner and am in love with it. I can check, clear, look up, and troubleshoot codes. I can view live data. So far I have found out that my tach, speedometer and fuel gauges are off. I can see incoming air temps, ignition advance, amount of air the engine is pulling in, calculated load on the engine...I am in love. I hook it up and have it in the floor where I can glance at it

I got mine at a good deal from the truck. Paid just over 300 for it.

Now I just need to get the ford factory software to control the ecm through my laptop :)

Dunno...I have a manual so I haven't experienced the light flashing. If you can get ahold of a manual, it may explain how to have the light flash out the code and you can figure out what it is trying to tell you is wrong with it.

Nice!

Here's mine: http://www.scantool.net/products/elmscan_pwm.htm Cost is ~$100. Less if you come up w/ your own enclosure. Software is available for free from the 'net.. Notice mine is scan only. It DOES NOT SET any codes, although it can clear trouble codes.. I think! Has been a while since I've played w/ it.

That is my personal scanner...I normally have 2 laptops hooked up to the trucks that I work on at work. One to monitor the engine and one to monitor the transmission if they are an autoshift or automatic.
