which x-cal tune to get

i am going to be ordering a x-cal later this week and was just wondering if there is a difference in the tunes from bama versus rouge. seems like they would be close to the same but just wanted to see what you guys think. also which tunes should i get? i tow my quads to the mountains at least twice a month and take the ranger wheelin just as much. i was thinking 87 tow, 91 tow and 91 performance

never heard of a "tow" tune, i assume your talking torque. I'm going to go with.....

92 perf
92 torq
87 perf

No clue on which is better, both Rogue and Bama are reputible companys. I don't know about Rogue, but Bama eliminates the rear 02 sensor on their tunes, which helps me on my rear cat-delete pipe i have planned.

imo...the benefits outweigh the extra $2 youll spend on filling your truck.

Get 93 performance or gas milage (I wish I had gas milage...and I might get it)
and 93 towing.

There is such a thing as a towing tune...I have 2 of them :)

It is just so the torque converter locks up quicker...my trans temps are relaly really low with this tune, it's perfect for towing.

I tow 2 atvs all the time...it is just fine with the 93 tune.

Heres my thing...on 87 I avg 14mpg, and 93 I avg 16mpg, the $2 I pay at the pump is outweighed in my MPG gain...so it is beneficial for me to run 93

I have been getting 16-17 now running the 93 performance tune...loving it :)

If you like to spend money then get ignored after the sale. Bama is the way to go!. (Bought mine through him)

Go with Fred at rouge performance. This is who I'm now using.

I'm with Rich, I have gone down the Bama route before, I dont know if he is just super busy or what.

Fred at Rouge Performance is great. I have had both of their tunes and I like Freds.

Also you can buy Fred's products right through Wayne (www.stuffforyourranger.com/store) who is another member on here.

I run the 93 and 87 performance tunes.

can you change your tire sizes with this chip? God knows I won't 35 my 35's forever and I don't feel like buying a new chip everytime I buy tires. Does this chip let you tune your trans. at all? Also is this one better than Superchips? If it is can anyone explain where its better.

The x-cal is a programmer. **you** can cahnge many things with it. Tire sizes, shift points, shift firmness, A/F ratio, timing, idle speed, ect...

It's also a scanner. So you can check for DTCs & datalog input from many of the different sensors.

It's expensive. But well worth it.

I would go with fred at rogue performance if I was you. when i ordered my xcal2 I didnt know that my truck had been reflashed so the 4 digit code didnt match my pcm. he has been very helpful and done everything he can to make sure that it works right. knowing that he backs what he sells is a huge plus and he returns emails!
