Rocker arm issue. Valve not opening correctly. Popping outta exhaust hard.
Trucks beeen runnin good lately excepti noticed i had some chatter in the rocker arms still. finally had the time to investigate pulled intake, covers, found 2 loose rockers, tweaked them down a hair just enuff to take out the play. bad idea. put it all back together. started the truck and got popping out of the exhaust. not cool.
broke it all down again this morning with a buddy, who is a mechanic, loosened all of them started from scratch. went through the sequence starting from 1 thru 8. Torqued them all to spec 25lbs. and thru the sequence some were loose. actually most. NO play in the push rod up and down but a little movement in the rocker arm itself. thought that was fishy but we put it all back together anyway started it up and SAME PROBLEM. sounded good at first but when oil pressure got to normal etc started poppin again bad. undrivable.
Could we have been off just the slightest on TDC on each cyclinder to make them loose? im baffled.

ya sound to me like you have collapsed lifters need to swap them out. there no way to fix them that i no of we get it alot in chry cars. hydro lifters shouldnt do that - ok dumb question do you have solid lifters in if ? or stock ? if you have solid in it, it will do what yours is if you adjust them to hydro lifter specs
