2001 Mazda B4000 V8 swap (help needed)
First day here on Ranger Forums , Thank you for letting me be apart of this !!!
Ok, Have Donor V8 and trans. from 99 Explorer 2x4 in the Mazda B4000, Imust say tight fit but in with no modifications, bolted right in!!! Now where I need help is on the 42 pin plug, what wires do I need to switch/cut or remove is my 1st question... 2nd info on the PATS system and what should I need, donor is still here until I have a running V8 truck.. And if any of you guys know of something else I need to do please let me know.
Thanks, Bird

google the swap some good info on the rangerstation too. i dont think you need to change anything wire wise but you will need to either have pats delete done, tow it to a dealer and have your key married to the 5.0 ecu or swap all the exp pats stuff into your truck....i believe the control module is behind the passenger side airbag you also need the black ring off the steering column of the explorer and of course the ignition switch......you can just swap the whole steering column if you want but all you really need is the black ring thats part of pats and of course the key ....once all that is in your mazda you should be able to fire it off..you will likely have to extend the wires for the starter form what i remember reading and possibly something with the alternator and hvac

Status?
It's rare to find a 4x2 Expo with 5.0L......NICE FIND!
Is you B4000 4x2 or 4x4? If it's 4x4 you will need the Expo puter. BOMK you need to merge the harness from the Expo & B4000 together and this will take care of the PATS along with the box behind the radio/PAB.

This is what I used for my 97 donor to my 02.
Legend:
C110 = original Ranger 3.0 harness 42 pin connector
C115 = Explorer 5.0 42 pin connector
C1078 = A/C high pressure switch, C139 is C1078's path to ground (below brake master cylinder)
C1006 = A/C compressor relay
A/C Compressor control:
Loop C110 pin 37 to C110 Pin 35. Route C139 pin 5 or C1078 pin 1 to C115 pin 37 and to C1006 pin 6. Remove F1.25 10a fuse and then swap the relay pins from normally closed to normally open. It's probably easier to replace the A/C relay and "pig-tail" the new relay to both the C139 mod and the N0/NC swap.
Tachometer:
Move wire in slot 8 on the 10 wire plug to slot 16 on the 16 slot plug at back of instrument cluster
Starter:
Route C110 pin 28 to Ground, leave C115 pin 28 disconnected
Alternator (likely only 1 of three changes need to be made):
Route C110 Pin 41 to alternator excite terminal (only if C110 has the alternator wire)
Route C110 Pin 42 to alternator always on (only if C110 has the alternator wire)
Route C115 Pin 42 to ground -- gotta do this one regardless of the alternator wires)
VSS ground:
Route C115 pin 13 to ground
Leave C110 pin 13 open
I would suggest getting a wiring diagram for both vehicles so you can compare.
