302 cop to dizzy conversion
302 cop to dizzy conversion
I have a 302 in my ranger. Its got a crack in the block or head. Replaced head gaskets and still looses coolant and bubbles out the overflow tank.
I found a guy close to me with a complete 5.0 but its out of a 97 mountaineer. Wich has coil on plug
can I take off the coils and put in a distributor? Or do I have to find a 302 without the coil on plug? I dont want to use the cop because I bought a painless wiring harness all ready and it's set up for a distributor.

Yes, you can switch to a distributor, the cam has the gear to drive it, because its driving the Cam sensor now, that looks like this: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/oKcAA...rpH/s-l400.png
So bottom half is same as distributor
And just FYI 1997 5.0l wasn't COP, it is DIS, it uses two 4-spark plug coil packs
