Wiring i am not going to cut any corners. I am going to be getting a painless wiring kit complete with ecu or ecm... what ever they are called. I would sooner spend the extra and know that it is going to work right off the bat. Because wireing and me do not get along. it took me 2 days to wire in my OHC.

But when you think about it. It will defiantly be worth it. Everything is already taken care of ther is no worrying that something might start fire. Nothing like that just hook it up and away you go.

I was reading some of the instructions and they even have reminders in there to hook up the O2 censors, everything. In short from the little bit that i did read it looks like it is going to be easy to reinstall.

Also another reason that I want to use a painless is so that the engine is stand alone.

Can you run a stand alone harness in an 02 ?

Also, stick to a Ford 19lb injector, unless you go wit a higher RPM Cam.

maybe if you are talking to the Manufacturer about a Cam, ask them the best injector to run.

yes ! the painless wiring is a stand alone system with only the engine computer

the ford C6 transmission is a non computer controlled unit

if you use a ford 19lb injector , you have the ability of dialing down the amount of time the injector fires the fuel into the intake. ( proper air/fuel ratio )

Hmmm I did not know that. I take it tho that if I wanted to do that I would have to get a special program or something along those lines.

19# injectors are stockers for the 5.0 and 5.8 no tuning required they will barely support any thing over stock hp #s. I would go with 24# if you dont have a programmer or know of anyone that can tune it you can get a mass air sensor tuned to 24# injectors.

Not over kill at all.... they are minimum. You start getting to 6k RPM with a built 302 and your exceeding the recommended safety factor of 85 duty cycle on the 19 pound injectors. If you start hitting 100 your going to go lean in a hurry and bad things will follow.

24s are not overkill ecm must be tuned or use a tuned mass air sensor or it will run fat (rich). 19s will be pushed to there limit 24s will give you room to grow later if you want.

Ok I think I will run with 24's then. Is there a certain type of injector that I should get for better performance or are they all the same.

No there is no certain type, but from what I have read the injectors with the 4 hole nozzle on the end are slightly better than the injectors with a single pintle. The only thing to possibly check when selecting injectors is if they are flow matched.

They put all 8 injectors into a fixture that runs them for the same amount of time and measures how much volume flows out during that time, then recalibrates them so that each injector flows the same amount. Its mainly a way to balance the injectors to ensure one is not significantly outflowing any other which would obviously cause some issues when you have rich and lean conditions all within the same cylinder bank.

I could only guess what they do with new injectors, but alot of times you will buy used injectors that are rebuilt and flow matched. Here are two pics to show very roughly how its done and how the injectors atomize the fuel differently.

Well I wouldn't base my decision soley on a picture some guy stole off of google... those are also 3 different types of injectors, neither of which are the same as the 24's you will be running.
