5.0 PATS

I have read in different places that a tuner will delete PATS. Will an SCT xcal3 do this or do I have to get it written into the tune to be deleted or to match my current type E PATS?

So you just told whoever was writing the tune that you need to change the PATS to match yours or did you do away with it all.together?

In my pats search I have found these guys. http://www.thedetailzone.com/

Pulled from another site I cant link too.

There is a guy who makes a wiring harnees for the Explorers. He also can do any computer work you need done, and charges $350, no matter what you want done. Send it to him and have a performance program loaded, remove the PATS, and VIN match the computer to your truck. I am sure he can do more, and plan to use him and his kit when I build my truck.

Yeah, when i bought it, along with writing details about the truck, like any mods you've done to the motor. i just asked for pats to be removed, basically it just tells the computer to ignore it.

That's what I was thinking. You didn't run into any problems after you had it removed?

and no, my truck still wouldn't start after that, so i just ended up just wiring a push button starter in anyways.

Did you ever go get your keys resynced? I called explorer express and they were sketchy about writing the tune. Guy said they would match my PATS but it wasn't something they liked doing. But after all that he said I would still have to go to ford to have my keys resynced in order to start

Naw, my pats is removed.

i have a tiny key for the door, its not chipped, and i can use that to run my truck.

so if you have it "removed" you shouldn't have to resync anything, your normal keys will work.

So why did you wire up a push button if yours was removed? Did you bypass the ignition when youbwired up your pushbutton?

this was like a year and 1/2 ago but this is what it was i think.

tried to start it, wouldn't do anything. everything would come on like normal.

found out on my tune pats was not removed

he re wrote the tune to get rid of pats

tried again and did the same thing.

starter was fine, i jumped it with a screw driver and it fired right up, so i just wired up the push button to get it over with.

(mostly because i didn't drive my truck for like 3 months and i needed it before winter)
