5.0 v8 swapping a 4.0 ranger
I am looking to buy a southern kept 2000 Ford Ranger XLT with the 4.0 v6 2wd but it has 245k miles, and a really bad overheating problem here in Ohio for $500 purely for a v8 swap (5.0 v8 from 97-01 explorer or mountaineer, M5OD-R2 manual transmission and BW 4406 transfer case from a 97-03 4.2l v6 f-150)
IF I can find these parts at a junkyard/cheap marketplace deals, from what i've gathered from Mudslinger's swap: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...ger/#gsc.tab=0 it's pretty straightforward.
Am I overlooking anything, any issues I could run into? Any huge expenses to expect (programming the explorer computer, adapter kits, mounting brackets, ANYTHING that I didnt mention, or isnt mentioned in mudslingers swap)?
Planning to do this and have the ranger streetable by 02/19/25. Any help is appreciated
Background, I'm an assistant manager @ an automotive repair facility so plenty of space, tools, time, and expertise
