you gonna sell the motor/tranny and such to fund your project? I hope so... here is my idea... and it is strictly for fun....

Get the motor and trans in... get it running.. leave the stock ranger rear in 7.5/8.8 whatever... have a good friend grab a video camera and you limp it to a safe area, and do some full throttle stabs to it and see how long it takes to break and WHAT will break... i think that'd be awesome!

Yes I am going to sell most of everything that comes out or off of it. The whole body will be off for the build, so it would be a pain in the *** to do that. I do like your destructive mind though. LOL

This is a video of my truck against a mach one 2 years ago before I really had much done to it. and it weighs over 8000 lbs. The Mach one went 8.73, I wound up with an 8.705.

I love watching the Diesel truck videos. My favorite is the older black F350 crew cab vs an RX7 - tons of black smoke too!

SCT is the only way to go. The edge makes good power but shifts like crap. The edge has a really bad reputation of tearing up the 5r110 tranny. Most get about 35K miles. The SCT controls the tranny. I have 75K miles on my tranny with the sct, and its happy as can be. That truck is gorgeous.

Thats interesting because he's ran the Edge for over 20k and hasnt run into any issues at all. It shifts nice, and the truck is used for towing.

Do they offer the SCT Livewire Custom tuned for the 6.0?

Yeah, custom tuning is the only way to go, but the livewire is really just a marketing gimmick. The Xcal 2 is what he wants.

You can't do that on the livewire. Its simply a file loader. For the EGT to work on the livewire it takes a 400 dollar EGT kit. WTF? Even my friends who seel them say they are a gimmick.

Well that kind of stinks! Could he run the Edge programmer on the Factory stock 0 level with the Superchips tune?

Yeah, he can use the Attitude for the gauges, and run the SCT, (its not the same as the superchips) for the power. He could also get a tranny only file from the SCT and use that and run the Edge on top of it. JUst don't stack power adders. the 6.0 does not like that for very long.

Oh yeah, we read all about that in Diesel power, lol.

Who offers good sct tunes and how much are they with the Xcal2? If i cant get him to do this im going to try and get him to run a aftermarket turbo or a shot of Nitrous, but would those yeild a custom tune as well?

Doug at www.gogodiesl.com, or DJ at www.dj's-performance.com both make great tunes. You can run nos without a custom file but you won't see the max gain without adding more fuel. IE: A custom tune. I have a buddy of mine that has a brand new xcal 2 he bought then bought an 08 with the 6.4. I can ask what he wants for it if you'd like. I would guess 350-400. You can get a new one with tunes for 400-450 ish.

Good luck with this project! It looks like you may be facing some serious size issues based on the Cummins install:

That particular one is a 5.9 inline 6. If you look closely enough you can see the two exhaust pipes coming out of the last 2 cylinders under the dash.

The 6.0 swap has been done in the Spal Ranger from Hypermax. It fits, its very tight, but it fits. Remember there won't be AC or batteries, or anything extraneous under the hood.

ok i have a question for you. why is it that nitrous works on your 6.0 but i tried it on my 99 kw with a cummins n 14 plus and it makes it lose power and die? i run the b.c rockies loaded real heavy and i hate goin up steep long grades real slow. just a p i a. but when i use propane it works great, i have done some work to the engine and got it from 525 hp with 1680 tq to around 650hp and 2100tq. i'm gettin bout 40 lbs of boost with the new turbo and the cam helped but why dont nitrous work on a 14.6 liter? think that it's 899 cid inline 6.

Wow, my best guess would be that you don't have enough Fuel going to it to run the NOS. Do you have a lot of Black Smoke before the NOS comes on? You may be giving it too much air. Does it pop, like a back fire before it dies?

Ordered the first set of Billet Steel rods made by Crower today. The Pistons are on their way to be ceramic coated, and the block is being prepped to start putting all the crap back in.
