97 ranger 4.0 to 5.0 need help
Hey all, I recently stuck a 5.0 out of a 97 ford explorer into my 97 ford ranger. I am using the 4r70w trans converted to a 2wd. i am at the point of everything is in and installed. oil filter relocation done, using autofab conversion motor mounts. my truck was a 5speed. so far i bypassed the clutch switch pink wire and Blue with red i believe it was together. right now turning key does nothing. is there some wiring changes that i have to do that i am missing?

White/pink wire comes out of the ignition switch and runs to the clutch switch, this wire should have 12volts when key is turned all the way to START, if not check fuses.
Red/light Blue wire at the clutch switch will run to starter motor's small post.
So if you connect the White/pink wire and Red/light Blue wire together the clutch switch will be by-passed.
When the small post on starter gets 12volts, starter will spin(assuming it is connected to battery's +, and battery's Ground is connected to engine)
On the Automatic there is an NSS(neutral safety switch) just above shift linkage, this is like the clutch switch but also has the backup lights passing thru so often 5 wire connector.
Depending on how much of the wiring you changed the Red/light Blue wire may pass thru there now, and it is not connected or not in Park or Neutral.
I would recommend hooking this switch up but................
If all else fails test for the 12v at the white/pink wire when key is turned to START(and ONLY when at START), if 12v is there, run a new wire from that wire to the starter motor
