No, I don't think so. Just mounted in the same way the AWD T/C would be. I am waiting for the answer to a PM about this question now, trying to find out if the Ranger T/C will bolt up to the 4R70W without modification.

I talked to someone who's done the swap and he says the Ranger 13-54 T-case will NOT bolt up to directly the Explorer 5.0 4R70W transmission. I have heard that there may be an adapter available from Advance Adapters.

my not-immediate but not very long-term plans still include dropping a 4.0SOHC in my Ranger.. if I come across a decent 5.0 (like, say, a wrecked ~92 Mustang) that motor will go in Kara's Miata. Full kits are available to do the swap, and it even fits under the stock hood! You would only need mild engine tweaks to surpass 10lbs/hp, even considering that a 5.0 swap adds roughly 500lbs to the Miata.

The swapped engine has to conform to these standards:

You can fit a 350 in a ranger a lot easier then you can fit a 389 pontiac.

What if I do a 302 conversion & put a supercharger on top of that?

Would that be possible?

Also what about a "347," I've never heard of that till I seen that video that Leo put on here about a day ago of that Mstang w/ one in it?

302's are very common in rangers. most of the info youll ever need can be found on RPS in the V8 section. they are fitting the new 4.6 in there now as well. Id think that a centrif/ supergharger would work, dont know about a root style unless you had a bodylift.

a 347 is just a stroked 302 block.

me, my self, my junker 2.3 is going to the heep, in favor or the 2.3T heheheheeh

the 5.4L L engine can be fitted, with tons of fab and cutting. but it would take a lot more frame support to hold up to the weight and torque.

here is the guys build up over on RPS of the 4.6L. the engine is a lot wider than a 302, and requires a lot more work to fit it.

RPS 4.6L build

TMSOKO on RPS has an Explorer 5.0 with a Kenne Bell supercharger in his 99 Ranger.
Here are 4 pages of photos.

Get yourself a complete wrecked / roller explorer V8 and save yourself alot of hassle. With the wrecked explorer and your ranger, you would have just about every part you need.

1999 to 2001 will be closest. I have heard lately that the 2001+ Rangers are slightly different with the PATS system. There is a guy on RPS working out that issue now.

TRS is all about 4X4's and carbs. Not my cup of tea. There are a lot more technical folds on RPS, IMO.
