Dude do you realise how many times the carb vs efi debate has gone on over there. At one time I to thaught that they were all about the carb but I was wrong. And no they're not all about 4x4 either. Yes they are hot and heavy on the 4x4s but just read and ask and you will usually find answers.

Also ya know this place isn't that much diffrent than TRS, yall may not realise it but this place is prety heavy on the 4x4 to. RPS is very into the slammed and dropped side of the house but they don't seem as knowledgeable and detailed as TRS, also they only support a few enginse like yall do where as on TRS if it is a ranger engine you can get help and knowledgable imput. Take my '84 for example it has a 2.8 in it, yall don't really have anything on it, RPS has a forum that is ignored (and I don't think they know the diffrence between it and the 2.9), the only real place for info is on TRS.

Oh and just for the record I'm a member of both of those to.

Oops sorry man I forgot who I was responding to, but still you are wrong about it being all carb and 4x4 I have gotten a good bit of EFI info. The reason it seems all carb is all the old skool (read: carb) guys over there that don't know anything else and they tend to be the first to post. Alot of people are acared of EFI I like a good carb on a nice BB but on something that is driven every day even us guys on TRS like EFI just not many know how to fix it if it breaks.

True! True! Guess that's why I'm a member here and the other two largest Ranger sites out there (atleast as far as I know). Those being RPS and TRS.

If you would have read a few posts back in this thread, you would read that the T-case is not interchangeable. The exhaust system will have to be fabbed, but everything else will interchange.

I have no idea about the PATS because I haven't made it that far. However, I've seen lots of info over on RPS if someone doesn't give it to you here.

The Ranger T/C has a 5-bolt pattern and the 5.0L Explorer 4R70W/AWD transmission is six bolt. They do not match. Perhaps they thought you were talking about a 4.0L Explorer with a 5R55E.

IMO, it would be better and stronger to use locate a T/C out of an F150/Bronco that would bolt up to a 5.0L 4x4/AWD trans.

Bob is right on. The ranger case will not bolt to a 4R70W transmission. The V6 stuff is punny anyhow. I will add a picture when I get home to reinforce these comments.

Get a 4404 AWD Explorer case or a F150/Expedition 4406 Hi/Lo case.

What would the (dis)advantages be of going with an AWD vs a 4Hi/Lo out of the 150?

The 5.0L Explorer AWD is always active and is OK to use on dry or rainy roads as well as off road. True 4x4 should not be used on dry or rainy roads but is fine on snow covered roads and most off road conditions.

The disadvantages of the Ex AWD?
Does not have low range so it is not as off-road capable.
Probably delivers slightly lower fuel economy.

Either use a big truck t-case, like the 4406 from newer F150 /Expedition, a 1356 from older F150 / Bronco, Old school NP205, or big daddy Atlas II. I am sure there are a few others, but those are the prime candidates.

I would not recommend spending the big cash on an advance adapter 1354/4405 t-case to 4R70W trans adaptor - just wasting money, as the V6 case is just plain small and weak.

For a 2WD Ranger, use the engine and 4R70W auto trans from a 2WD 5.0L Explorer. If you want a manual, you can use a W/C T5 or Tremec with the correct bellhousing.
