Biggest V8

Is the 5.0L/302 the biggest V8 you can fit in a ranger?

you can fit a 351 with minor reworking. a 4.6L with MAJOR reworking and a 5.4L with about $10000 worth of cash

I have seen people put 460s in the gen 1 rangers as well. Anything can fit, just how much cash/time do you have. I saw on rides or something similar where a guy had put a helicopter turbine engine in an S10!

The helicopter turbine engines are sweet. You could buy one of those turbine motorcycles(jay leno has one) and the most awesome part is literally the faster they go the more power they create. As more air gets sucked in they gain more power.

Not necessarily true. The 351W is ~1" taller and ~2" wider than 302 due to 1.3" taller decks. My 302 fit fine, the 351W is VERY tight in my 1999.

if a 5.0 302 block will fit, you can always bore that out to a 331.

Just curious how you came up with "MAJOR rework" and "$10,000"...bud.

I was just curious if yours was finished since you haven't added new pictures to your site in years.. bud.

Any retard can gut an engine bay and sit an engine in there. Making everything WORK is another thing.

that part of my comment was directed to a 5.4L you have a 4.6L so ya what....i beleave me wording wasnt the best in the sentance so it probly wants clear...there is no piont "calling me out" it just was a short comment that had no proof or facts just a blurb out there your taking things way to critical over nothing....

My first post was a simple question asking if you had done these swaps. A totally fair question IMO. You were the one who first used the word "bud", kinda set the tone for things to come.

Sorry about "calling you out", but when I see people posting things that aren't correct, I'll say something.

Then why write it?

Greg

P.S. Your dad works at Ford? Good, tell him thank you, I love my '05 Mustang. The Mustang hasn't looked this good in over 30 years.

Hypermax put a 6.0 Diesel in an '04 ranger, but that truck isn't street legal to my knowledge. MAJOR reworking there...

the 5.4 and 4.6 are the same basic block arent they? one of the technicians at the dealership i used to work at bought a donor wrecked lightning and swapped it into his 03 stang GT......though i cant remember if it was the blown type or not. oh well. i was under the impression that the 3.9, 4.6, and 5.4 modular v8s are all the same BASIC block.

Nope, the 3.9L is off in a family of it's own, common to the 3.9L / 4.2L Jaguar V8. The 4.6L and 5.4L are similar, but the deck heights are different for the longer stroke of the 5.4L. Very similar to the comparison of a 302 and a 351W. Many common parts and mounting points, but different deck height.
