Need help with swap info!!!
Hey guys. I need some techinical assistance about the V8. Now I have researched the crap out of this and my actual question is not about the swap itself but the engine I am wanting to use. I have found a great deal on a 1990 Lincoln Town Car 302 EFI with AOD transmission. My buddy is going to trade me his manual for the AOD. How does this engine compare to the fox body mustangs 5.0? Which wiring harness will i need?

Easiest on a 91 Ranger would be a 60-pin EEC-IV PCM like your truck had stock. If you can get the original PCM from the same Lincoln donor, it is EEC-IV and it would also be correctly calibrated for the stock injectors and sensors that are on the Lincoln engine.
97-back have a lot more room in the exhaust area and don't necessarily need to use the restrictive Explorer 5.0L exhaust maniolds/headers. Unlike the 98+ Rangers, the 97-back have a good aftermarket offering swap headers, motor mounts, oil pans, etc.

Alright guys...going to pick up the 5.oh this Friday. I got the pics today and it doesnt look like a brand new engine but looks functionally sound and a good engine. I have been researching and asking questions about the swap for a while now, about a year, and things are starting to come together. The info on RPS is great for this swap, the only problem is they list about 10249834094 combinations of parts and different ways of doing it. So here are my questions to yall so that I am clear in what I am thinking of doing.
What motor mounts would work best and with ease of install? L&L?
I have had mixed answers on a drivshaft? New one? Or keep?
^I will be using a Mustang 5 SPD.
They do make swap headers for my 91 correct? I know it varies from year to year.
And i guess my big delemma...Carb or EFI?
^Im good with wiring just wanting to know if EFI is worth it?.
That is all...just trying to see if yalls answers to these are what im thinking. Thanks in advance.

The Vic motor isn't really a performance piece. Mabey rated at 150 hp or so. It will have a speed density system. What are you really looking to do with this? If you are looking for a street/strip terror you are probably going to be disappointed. This is a step down from a HO motor.
You can use the oil pan, motor mounts, and probably even the exaust manifolds from the Vic.
You can use the Vic wiring but you are probably going to be on your own if you need help. I think there is only one thread on RPS about Vic wiring.
Drive shaft.....you won't know until you have the motor and tranny in. Don't worry about that now.
And there are a large amount of combos found on RPS because there are a lot of different ways of doing the swap.
My cardomain page has a detailed write up on how I did my 92. A 91 would be no different.

Since he is rebuilding the engine , he can build it to H.O. specifications .
the vic motor is under rated , and is mostly so because of the package it is in .
A good cam , and porting ,will make that engine perform well .
Fuel injection , in my opinion is the only way to go ...problem free , and will not be effected by severe angles while wheeling .

Those motors were rated at 150hp. http://www.lincolntowncar.org/tech/tech1990.html
Body style has nothing to do with it.
It's the stock heads that are the main draw back. Porting can help a little but would not live up to my definition of a good performing engine.
Again, what do you want to do with this? If a 15-16 second truck with some torque behind it is what you want then this motor would be fine. If you want more, then you need to make some decisions. If you see yourself upgrading the motor in the future with things like cams and such then you might want to start off by putting in a mass air fuel injection system that can grow and adapt to your changes. Or you could stay with speed density if you don't forsee that kind of thing in your future.
