Emission Laws

Ok so im getting really discouraged about swapping a v8 due to the fact that the wonderful people at the epa have decided its not legal to swap an engine from a car older than yours. Who would have ever thought id be paying someones sallary to tell me what i cant do. well i have a 2003 Ranger and planned on swapping a 5.0 into it but since they stopped using them in 2001 im kinda out of luck. Does anyone have any ideas or experience on maybe getting the older 5.0 to pass or maybe another v8 that would work.

dude i feel you pain. but at lest in MD if your car/truck is 20 years or older you can get historic tags. then you can say by-by to emission. i love my 87 Ranger.

im not sure of the laws where you live, but in california the only way i know to get around this is to register your vehicle in a state with emissions laws that will not restrict your plans (ei.Arizona has nearly NO smog regulations so that's what some of us California people do) then after some time you will be able to register your vehicle back in your home state perfectly fine. note: i have not done this myself i have seen and been told of this route working in my state for many people. at least you have an option though now.
