want your Opinions on trany..
well im still trying to decide what i want to do for a trany for the 302. im gona be using it offroad and not just mudding proly trails and tech stuff. so im wondering if i should play it safe and get the auto trany for making tech riding a bit easier and safer. or get a manual, which would make driving the 302 much more fun, and sound alot cooler. downside is it would be a bit harder to do technical manuvers offroad. but that could possibly be mastered with more skill and getting used to it.
so what do you guys think i should do, input on both sides of the trany spectrum would be good, like what do you manual guys think its like offroad, compared to auto
i was just up late runing through some more stuff that im trying to get ready for the summer, thanks for yer help

u want overdrive or not? if u dont then a NP435 is the ticket with a 6.69:1 granny low. i dont honestly know of any 5 speed manuals (4 + OD) that would be worth while swapping that wont cost a small fortune.
if u want an auto then the C4 is key, unless u want overdrive than a gAyOD is the way to go but it must be accessorized to handle any kind of abuse.
and what is tech. wheelin?

If going Auto, your #1 choice is the Explorer's 4R70W trans. These can be made to handle in excess of 1000HP in a drag car, so no issues there. You can hold 450+HP for basically the cost of a shift kit!
For manual, an intrigueing offering is the NV3550. It is strong and gives 4:1 first with an OD for highway use. Plus, shifter location looks pretty good.

Definately not. They're not too hard to find. Also, our year rangers swap with the newer explorers very easily.
