Dude, a 460 would be ****ing awesome to have in a Ranger. If you could get it to fit, that would be one mean son of a *****.

I say go for it with the LS1. Good engines, fast, reliable.

For a pre runner truck i think it would be pretty good. I think there a light engine too.Don't listen to the haters.

Everyone throws a cummins in everything too and you dont see ppl complaining

here goes the butthurtfest of a thread

Sounds like all the truck op describe is highly modified with purpose, hardly a ranger how it left the factory. at which point the motor should be the best plant regardless of who makes it because the lines are already heavily blurred. anyone who gives up the best performance in a vehicle that isn't collectable, rare, or destined to be of great value is retarded. the ls1 is proven and one of the truly excellent engines to come from detroit. will make one sick truck

Whoever put that LS1 into that R33 should be hung. Thats like getting a Supra throwing the 2JZGTE into the garbage in throwing in a LS1.

I could see a 5.4 S/C out of a lightning thrown in a prerunnerd out Ranger,

Call it the Baja Bolt....

The LS1 is used in every big build up.... sounds kinda mainstream to me... not cool....

Thats not a 460 thats a 302.

He went from a 2.9 Turbo, to a "Frankenstein" 302, to a 545.

the 545 is n/a and should be making around 700hp

of course there are better alternatives. an example is a LS9 powered Ranger. 620 hp 595 lb/ft 6.2L supercharged V8? yes please. there is no factory Ford engine with that kinda output.
actually the super snake makes 600 + hp and if thats not enough, they can upgrade it for you to make over 700 hp......its the gt500 with a KB blower, but it comes from the factory that way and of course a larger price tag

I'm sure for those that get the Super Snake package they don't care about the warranty, and can afford the costs.

Its also a fully built motor compared to a Production car motor, I would hope it would kill a Ls1.

I love the idea of a LS series motor in a ranger. A motor is a motor, use the best available to you. I plan on putting a 5.3L Chevy motor in my truck eventually. they are cheap, efi, compact and have alot of support along with most of chevy's motors. The Stupid rivalry between ford and chevy is just that, DUMB.

Ls1 is lighter and more compact. Fits better in a ranger then trying to shoehorn a 351.
