Lol, I actually went and picked up a 97 exploder to swap the 5.0 into a 97 ranger. Its for a buddy of mine. Should be interesting. We have no PATS to worry about, so as far as wiring goes, we should be able to plug up the bulkhead connector and re-pin the tach feed and that should be pretty much it. I mean, there may be other things, but we will be pulling the battery and charging harness with the engine, and it will be getting swapped into the ranger as well. Bob, can you confirm this??? Anything else we might run into?

I will be sure to tell him to get the 5 inch adapter for the T-case since we have confirmed it is the correct one.

As far as cooling goes, we are going to try and reuse all of the exploder stuff. It may require making new brackets, but nothing we can't handle. We wont be using an electric fan (unless we absolutely have to) b/c I have a flex a lite black magic fan that flows 3000 CFM and the truck overheats if I climb steep grads while towing, and I even have a griffin radiator... Do you know how many CFM the Tauras fan is?

The passenger side inner wheel well will be quite easy to fit the headers in - make sure you completely remove the exhaust sitting there.. taht damn flange gets in the way bad.

The drivers side - good luck doing it in the rig, with my own headers I had to snake it down from the top, no clue how youll end up getting that one in - as your engine is bigger then the 4.0L, and your shock mounts will be blocking a good portion of it.. will have to see it once its installed for sure :-D

Hey Chris....you don't have ANY exahust piping or anything on the truck right now right? If that stock Y-pipe is still there, you're gonna have tons of fun getting that driverside on. Get that stock Y-pipe out of there and come up from the bottom. I've spent alot of time in that area the last few hours. lol.

+1 That damn Y-Pipe is a pain in the *** to be honest..

I unbolted it and budged it about 2 inches out of the way.. jsut enough to put my own JBA's in - thsoe thigns look way bigger then that.. hell, I woudl freakin torch them suckers off near the drivers side flange on the exhaust already there.. and then re-weld it on after the end is in.. will probabyl have to relocate it anyway

Ill head over there tomorrow and do some work, get the motor all squared away like fluids, air filter, wrap up the rest of the battery harness, and clean up the bay a little bit so when i get the transmission adapter AND radiator fan, i can install it and go :) Im a little nervous, anxious and excited to hear this motor purr :)

claims to increase power up to 14.4 horses and it would be a good combo for the headers. more power is gooooood :)
