5.0 in a 3.0 ranger?
a friend of mine offered my his 5.0 in exchange for my 3.0 (he wants better mileage)
will the engine fit in without a mounting kit?
will i have to trade trannys? (both automatics)
its a option that i wold like to do, what do you think about this, is it a good idea on a 91 truck

you will need a mounting kit. a better radiator. if you go EFI you will need like they whole wiring harness. and probly run a AOD trans. if you want to go cheap run a carbed 302 with a C4. eather case you will need your driveshaft shortend. if you dont have a 8.8 rear end you will want to get one. and little thing to make it work...
or you could buy yourself a recked 302 explorer and do a total swap of everypart...

wow, that's some trade
do a search there are a couple of threads running on a 5.0 swap out
it may not be as easy as you think and you will need a pretty complete set of tools and proper work enviroment to do the swap
the swap is very custom and not just a drop in of the V8
engine management systems are complicated and not very user friendly

If the trade includes the EFI to begin with, might be a good *time saving* idea to start with it from the beginning.
