Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!
It will not work with the Autometer gauge because it is simply on/off. You need the Autometer sending unit for the Autometer gauge.
The Autometer sending unit could be used alone in place of the factory switch or it could be teed into the same port with the factory switch. Using both would allow the stock OP gauge and "Check Gage" light to continue to operate normally.

Bob you are awesome. Do you realize that???
This whole time I thought that was a vacuum line and connector and never pulled the WIRE off to realize it was an electrical connection. It looks like a T-fitting would do the trick, allowing the AutoMeter sender to extend outwards from the engine like the stock one did.

I can get pics if I remember... when looking into the engine compartment my sender unit is on the right, drivers, side of the motor below the power steering pump. The hole for the sending unit points out towards the wheel. I put a 1/2 inch extension to a 90* fitting to get the sending unit on the end of that. It now sits below the power steering pump, it's tight under there but no clearance issues any more. BTW the sending unit I have is only for my own oil pressure gauge, my engine does not have one on that port.
