02 4.0 to naturally aspirated 302
Tomorrow I will be purchasing a 2002 Ranger extended cab 4 wheel drive, with 283,000 miles. The body is good, as is the frame. I was wondering if it would be feasable to swap in a carbuerated 302, and running gear from donor vehicles. I would like to go with solid front, and rear axles, and probably around 8 to 10 inches of lift. Is there ANY way I could use the stock tranny and transfer case, which I would rebuild, or should I swap it all??? If anyone has done this, or if there are any threads about this already on here, if anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Rick

The guages are computer controlled so if you want to keep them you will need to retain the stock computer for those, mostly the speedo.
The 302 will destroy the stock trans and tcase which is good as they are not even close to be able to bolt to each other.
v8 and SAS are all most common mods there are many build threads on this board,m among many other sites. You need to do some leg work and see what has been done and with what.
If you got a cut off wheel, grinder, and a welder you can make anything work.
