Simple convertion question

In a 94 ranger, how hard is it to swap in a 302 in place of my 2.3?? How many people have done this?

buy a complete Explorer with a v8 and sit the trucks side by side......as you take 1 part off the Ranger, take the same part off the Explorer and put it on the Ranger......if you have a complete Explorer you KNOW you have all the parts you need....

... what if someone wanted to do a fuel injected crate motor? or is the parts list too extensive for this thread?

I'm curious as well, I don't mean to steal your thread MIke, haha...

well you would need:

-motor mounts
-tranny
-tranny crossmember or custom one
-either Explorer exaust manafolds or custome made headers to clear the steering shaft
-Explorer V8 radiator
-Explorer v8 wiring harness
-Explorer v8 PCM
-Explorer v8 power distribution box
-and probably all kinds of other parts that i can't think of off the top of my head...

and if you are going to go with a carbed v8 you would need a lot of fabed parts to get the gas pedal to work.....

98+ Ranger swaps are much easier with the special compact 302 used in the Explorer.

97 and earlier Rangers have a different front suspension and frame and more room in the engine bay. They accept just about any 302 that has the right set of key components.

depends if you want fuel injection or carb, carb is gonna be far cheaper and fast to get in and going.. with all the right stuff trans/install kit/motor/ driveshaft already shortened if needed. people have instealled it in a weekend being carbed, fuel injection will take a tad longer
