Stupid starter.

Okay, a bit of a rant. So, since I've owned the truck the starter has always screamed. Like loud. Here lately its been binding and I could tell the starter was getting weak. I pulled the old one, didnt bother to check the flex plate.

The old one tested good but you could hear the bearings inside it and the thing had a little play in it. So I needed a new one anyway. Good under no load is fine and dandy ,but I need good under load.

So I brought the new one home, put it in, jsut got done 5 minutes ago, start it up, the screaming is louder than ever, but the starter is alot stronger.

Anyway, back to the flex plate, the teeth I could see looked fine, but I got under the truck and had my dad bump it, and every other except the ones that happened to matched up with the starter, were ****ed.

So, looks like if I ever want to get this thing to quiet down, it's flex plate time.

What sucks is the old starter might have gotten me by, prolly not, but maybe. That was $70 I didn't have.

What is really annoying is the fact I went to pick the starter up and its the same exact one, brand and everything, the one Advance sells with a lifetime warranty. But not having the phone number it was purchased under I couldn't get it replaced free. Now, I'm at least gonna ask the person I got it from if they changed it, if so i'll get my $70 back.

This sucks, I new all that screaming wasnt the starter, that it had to be the gears meshing, granted it was weak. Should listened to my gut. Now, I'm broke til next Friday. Stoopid Ranger.
