Has anyone had experience tuning the Ford AOD TV cable with a Demon carb? It's giving me fits. Specs:
AOD from '89 Mustang GT
B&M Quick Silver shifter - took care to index the detents
Lokar TV cable
Block pressure set at about 40 psi - shifts perfectly through all 4 gears but will not downshift to 3rd or 2nd. Full throttle shift at only 3500-4000 RPM in Drive. Of course I can shuffle shift it at any RPM I want.
Range of movement at the throttle is WAY more than at the tranny lever. Been trying compression springs on end of TV cable at carb but it still pulls out of adjustment after one WOT.
Any ideas besides putting in a T5? Thanks!

 

So you have the Ford kit for throttle/kickdown?
Or what kit do you have?

What model Demon carb?

 

Lokar LOK-KD-2AODU cable kit, using their lever. Also Lokar carb flange

 

I am not using a cable corrector such as Sonnax etc

 

Well, I broke down and read the carb manual because NOBODY makes a cable corrector for the Demon carb. There on the very last page was this sentence: "The Speed Demon carburetor will not work with a Ford AOD".
Uhuh. Swapped in an Edelbrock Performer 1406 and life is good.
Sometimes ya just gotta read the book

 

Yes, sometimes, but certainly a "last resort" for us DIYers, lol
