V8 Conversion..

hey everybody,
i have a 1990 ford ranger and i would like to convert it to a V-8. it is a 2.9L v6 XLT extended cab. I would like to build a Ranger with a 1996-2001 cobra engine or a fast 5.0 engine on a budget, but i would also like to drop the truck a couple inches. here are my ideas

chassis reenforcements
Tubbing the Rear for wider tires
A Five or six speed tranny
Explorer 3.73 rearend

here are my questions
Will the stock frame support the extra weight of the V8?
how wide of tires could i put on the rear without tubbing?
could i drop the truck without any problems after the truck is converted?
About how much will it cost to do this project?

What else do i need to have or do to make this dream come true on a budget since i am still in highschool.

Well, $3000 is alittle low for some of us. lol

Main purchases that will cost the most is complete motor and tranny setup. Of course if you do upgrades to motor and tranny than price goes up.
Of course you would want a new radiator, swap motor mounts, swap headers, custom exhaust, oil filter relocation kit, throttle cable, tranmission setup. The little stuff will nickel and dime you to death. But of course, can be done most likely with alot of hookups on parts for around $1000. But that of course is stock style setups. And of course carb. i went carb instead of FI just for $$$ and easier to install imo.

If your location is correct (Pacifica, CA) and you want to run your Ranger on the street, you might want to find out what's legal first.

In a '90 Ranger I'd go with the 5.0, it'll fit alot better than the '96+ Cobra engine will.

Well in cali first the motor has to be as new or newer then body. Second motor must be installed with all previous smog stuff from the year of motor.
And thats just the beginning.

Sell the truck, buy a Cobra and call it a day, or move out of CA. It is almost impossible now to make a powerful engine that passes CA emissions tests.
