What Tranny for 4.6 V8

Okay so i am wondering what MANUAL tranny would bolt up to the 4.6 V8. I found an explorer with one in it for really cheap and am wondering what it tranny wise to still have a standard truck..

Also what t-case would go on with the 4.6? Should i just take the T-case off the explorer or is there a manual t-case i can get?

I don't think you are going to be able to stay 4wd manual with a 4.6. Auto yes but I'm not a manual. Nothing that I know of is 4wd and manual with a 4.6. Also the 4.6 is a tighter fit than a 5.0. I think there is more triming involved.

Are you talking about putting the 4.6 in your truck?

Have you done research on swapping in a 4.6? You'll need custom motor mounts, transmission mounts, custom wiring, I don't know if the speedo or any gauges will work, etc, etc. I've seen one 4.6 Ranger (I haven't done much research on it) and its a beast, Kenne Bell supercharger on it. It was a LOT of work to get everything to work though. I think it was a 98-00 but I can't remember much else about it.

F-150 manual for it. Do some searching you can find companies out there who can program your computer for anything so you'll be able to use your stock gauges. I say do it. If the motor fits in a exploder engine bay no reason why you shouldn't be able to get under a rangers hood.

New exploders have a larger engine bay. Also I have only seen manual 4.2s in a F150. Not the 4.6.

Here's a pic of a Mustang 4.6 in a '98 Ranger 4x4. It has an Expedition trans and tc, and also a 3" body lift. Doesn't help answer your manual trans question, but shows the engine will fit.

You can get a 4.6 with a 5 speed and manual T-case from a 97-98 F150.

The 4.6 will fit, but it is not direct, or easy. But plenty doable!
