I have a std Cab Ranger to boot so space is at a premium.
Don’t need a lot of power just a good sound.

Question - How do you weed through all of the audiophile data to come up with a good sounding speaker system that will fit OEM locations and include a small all in one bass/amp setup and a small four speaker amp.
New speaker wiring is no biggy either.

I am always totally confused in this area.

So far I have a Pioneer AVICZ1210BT Player w/HD/iPod Adapters.

You could always get yourself a nice 5 channel amp, most of the time its cheaper then buying 2 separate amps, and cuts down on the clutter.

Im planning on getting a polk pa1100.5 to run everything in my truck, the prices pretty much reflect the quality of any product to an extent, you can always get flea market speakers for a couple bucks that will fit right in, and probably sound better then the factory paper cones but still not nearly as good as a much better built product, most of the time i just look at the rms handling and db rating, think of the db rating as an efficiency scale to 100, the closer the value to 100 would mean it takes less power to volume ratio, if that makes sense.

 

You wanting to amp the door speakers? Does your reg. cab have 2 or 4 speakers? If you just have 2 speakers that you want to amp you could get a 4 channel amp and use 2 of the channels for the speakers and bridge the other 2 channels for the sub. I would get something like 6.5" Image Dynamics or Phoenix Golds component speakers and amp them.

 

Are you wanting to do a sub? If so, and space is limited and you're not trying to rattle the doors, you could look at getting an 8" sub.

 

Bare with me, being owned is bad enough but not b!tch-slapped.

I was looking at the Sub from Pioneer, 8”, with amp, if it fits under the seat it should fit behind them also.
Pioneer also makes some 6x8, 2 and 3 ways, i was thinking 3-way for the door speakers and 2-way for the rear along with the sub.
I believe the speakers are 40 watts ea but I am not sure of the ohm and all that stuff.
Like I said why is this so confusing for a newb ?

I wouldn't bother with the Pioneer coaxials if you want a high quality system. Go with one of the ones that Tyler mentioned, components will sound better amped anyway.

 

Four speakers two in doors OEM and two in the rear Panel, OEM also., both out of a Pioneer CD6 System found in the Explorers and they sound pretty good with the USA Spec iPod Adapter.

So I need amp for the four speakers and something for the Sub.
I do not need nor want anything to big but would be interested in quality.

 

Infinity makes a good 5 channel amp and that Polk Audio one edge2k mentioned is a great amp as well. If you're just going to a single 8 or 10, a 5 channel amp would work perfect.

Well I have just been "ed-ja-ma-cated" in amps !

How about speaker Polk too ?

Now the questions comes up how do you know what speakers to match the amp ?
What about the “ohm” thing, how do you know which one, is it on the amp ?

These questions may be dumb but I am really not sure…

An amp can run at whatever ohm the speaker is. You just have to see what the rated power at that ohm is. Most component speakers are 4 ohm so just find an amp that does the RMS of the speaker at the speakers ohm rating. I think that makes sense ahah

 

If you're planning on a sub and space seems to be an issue since it's a reg cab check out the stealth sub by soundstream.

 

This is not true. Every amp is rated for a certain ohm range to operate. Most cheap components are 4 ohm, whilke anything really good will be 2 and capable of going all the way down to 1/2 such as mine.

Check out Qlogic custom fiberglass. They have tons for almost any size sub and can even order with an amp rack built into the enclosure.

 

Thanks for all of the info, I still haven’t bought speakers yet; usually take s me a while to wade through all of the info and, well maybe I speak too long and should just buy.
