05 Ranger Edge Supercab System add on with 2 12s

So, I just pulled the trigger on a pair of Pioneer TS-W310-D4's and all the goodies needed to install and thought I would keep track of the project on here for future reference. Build will be finished here in a few weeks since almost everything is here already. I'm still waiting on FedEx for the amp and wiring kit to get here.

The Mountain Dew is for a size reference.

I'm looking to upgrade to dual subs. Haven't decided on box design or sub size yet.

I don't plan on keeping any jump seat, so I have lots of options

I went with an Obcon/RT enterprises dual 12 a lot vented enclosure. Its part number 328-12 I think, but this box is sweet! For an amp, I have a Pioneer GM-D9601 that will put out 1200 watts RMS at 1ohm. I just got my wiring kit in yesterday, but I'm still waiting on the amp to get everything going. The box is 35 by 15 by 15 so I have just enough room and can still leave my 6x9s in the back. The new box is gray and everything else in the back is carpeted black, so I'm thinking about spraying some black paint on it to make it blend in better, but I won't know until I get a chance to set it in the back and look. I have a couple days off work this week and I'm finishing up classes this Tuesday, so I have a couple weeks to finish before I go back to school for the spring.

Once I start making progress, I'll put up some pictures. Stay tuned.

Set the box in for a preview yesterday before work and it fits perfect! the seats can still lean back enough to be comfortable and my 6x9 boxes fit right next to the sub box and I have about an inch on each side to play with.

I do need to paint it black though. the charcoal just doesn't look right. But that's what I'm going to do tonight when I get home. I also think that the amp should be waiting on me too.

Are you building a 6 speaker setup?

Yes, I guess. I have pioneer 6x8 three ways in the front doors, 2 pioneer 6x9s in boxes that you see and then I'll be adding the two pioneer 12s. If you are wondering, I am not using the rear door speakers, I pulled the one out whenever I was looking for the location of a rattle and the other is just unhooked.

I've contemplated doing the same thing. Since I don't have jump seats and plan on building a full system (big box, dual subs) and I could just pull the rear door speakers and integrate them into the sub box

Personally, I wouldn't try to put subs and full range speakers in the same box. You'll just be asking for trouble. I like my 6x9 boxes, so I would suggest those. I believe that the air movement of the subs would destroy a smaller speaker if put in the same box.

I didn't mean put them in the same airspace, just integrating their boxes together.

Oh, okay, that would be pretty cool to see. I'm just lucky that my 6x9 boxes fit in the little inset on the sides of my big box

Well, I've got everything pretty much done as of now, I have been tuning and tweaking this set up for the past few weeks trying to get it set up just the way I like it and I'm about there. This is the first time I have really been able to enjoy the lower end of any music. My Basslink was okay, but two 12's have a little more of a bump to them. My only problem remaining is that I'm still not sure about where to put the amp. It's in and working great, but it doesn't look all that great compared to everything else.

I still need to get the other, better pictures to load on my computer. As soon as I can, I will post Pictures of the finished product.

I have a slight feeling that I am going to rattle my mirrors off with these.
