So I am not new to wiring stuff and have done many radio installs and this one went very well, but when ever i turn my headlights on the radio shuts off and i lose dash lights. Anyone have any ideas on where i should start looking? Im gonna rip into it tomorrow.

 

Anyone? Could wiring up the illumination wire to the radio power do this?

 

you crossed 2 power wires to each other somewhere

you should of just ran a new fused wire from the battery

with all of these new computer controlled vehicles these days
tapping into a wire that is connected to another source is a very bad idea
especially when you run the risk of frying the engine computer

 

see this is a 92 and i just used the originaly radio wires to hook it up and back probed but i guess i got the wrong wire when i probed it.

 

Usually the Illum wire is Orange. Disconnect it and see if that fixes your problem. I usually don't hook that up anyway.
